What Live Table Tennis is Shown?

Whilst table tennis isn’t regularly televised in Britain or many countries around Europe, it is a sport which benefits from a surprisingly large number of live streams online. In fact, many of the top bookmakers show table tennis action live on a very regular basis. The below list represents a selection of the kinds of tournaments and events which often have live streams of their matches available online:

  • World Table Tennis Championships
  • Table Tennis World Cup
  • Table Tennis World Team Cup
  • ITTF World Tour Platinum Events
  • ITTF World Tour Events
  • Asian Table Tennis Championships
  • European Table Tennis Championships
  • North American Table Tennis Championships
  • Oceania Table Tennis Championships
  • German Bundesliga
  • German Open
  • China Open
  • English Open
  • Hungarian Open
  • Indian Open
  • Japan Open
  • Korea Open
  • Kuwait Open
  • Qatar Open
  • Swedish Open

It should have become obvious to you, therefore, that there are loads of options available when it comes to live table tennis action you can stream online. Not every stream of every event is available everywhere, however, as geographical restrictions do sometimes apply. Streams from certain tournaments or events, for instance, may not be available in your country of residence due to TV and broadcasting deals in place with television networks or other organisations.

What In-Play Markets are Available?

Thanks to the many different live streams of table tennis events which are available, in-play betting on the sport is growing rapidly in popularity. In fact, if you head to any of the bookmakers who offer live table tennis streams you are likely to find an impressive selection of available in-play table tennis betting markets. Those listed below are amongst the most popular with punters and most commonly provided by bookmakers.

Match Winner – An in-play market that you’re certain to be offered by any and every bookmaker who offers in-play betting on table tennis, match winner bets are the simplest and most commonly placed wagers. Also available as pre-match markets, the difference when betting on the match winner in-play is that you can try to time your bet strategically in order to achieve better odds.

Handicap – Also very widely available, a handicap bet is a wager on one or other of the players in a table tennis match to beat a pre-prescribed spread. A favourite in a match, for instance, may have to win by more than 1.5 games to beat that spread whilst the underdog would only have to lose by less than 1.5 games.

Game Winner – As a table tennis match progresses, many betting sites will also present punters with the option of betting on who will win each game as it is played. In a best of seven match that goes the distance, therefore, this particular market provides a punter with an opportunity to place fully seven different wagers.

Total Points – Often available as an in-play market in the earlier stages of a match but removed as an option later on, a total points wager is a bet on whether or not a certain number of points will be exceeded during the entire course of the match.

    • Click on the game mode you wish to play on the game’s welcome screen: tournament or quick game. Then choose your character.
    • The welcome screen also contains buttons for showcasing your unlocked special items, sound control, developer information.

      • Move your mouse as though it is a ping pong paddle.
    • Mobile
    • The level design for each match is designed to mimic the aesthetic of the cartoon series the player comes from.
  • Game Play
    • The layout of each match is designed to draw inspiration from the aesthetic design of the cartoon series which your opponent appears in.
    • Game mode
      • The game has 2 modes: quick match and tournament.
      • In quick match you play a single game to five points.
      • In tournament the game is much more complex.
        • There are typically a few different paths you can take to get to the final battle.
        • If you lose a tournament match you can repeat it as many times as you need to.
        • There are typically 2 mini-boss battles in each tournament where you have to do various tasks like:
          • hit a target so many times
          • defeat an enemy with a hand that pops up on the net
          • defeat an enemy which has a moving hole on their side of the table if you hit it
          • break bottles
        • When you win the mini-boss battles you unlock new balls or paddles.
        • When you have unlocked all 16 extras the mini-boss battles no longer appear in tournament mode.
    • Paddle movement
      • The faster you move the paddle the harder you hit.
      • If you angle around from the side you can put a lot of spin on the ball.
      • Be aware that when you swing hard sometimes your paddle can get stuck near the edge of the screen.
      • When you strike the ball your follow through is important for determining the spin on the ball.
    • Player selection
      • While the boss battles in tournament mode are harder than regular matches I believe all players largely have the same skill sets and attributes.
      • You can play as any of the following characters:
        • Adventure Time: Jake, Finn & Marceline
        • The Amazing World of Gumball: Gumball, Darwin & Tina Rex
        • Ben 10: Four Arms, Gwen & Heatblast
        • Craig of the Creek: Craig
        • Mao Mao: Adorabat & Mao Mao
        • Powerpuff Girls: Buttercup & Mojo Jojo
        • Teen Titans Go: Beast Boy, Raven & Robin
        • Thunder Cats Roar: Lion-O
        • We Bare Bears: Grizzly & Ice Bear
    • Power Ups
      • When you win the mini-boss battles in the tournament mode you obtain either a new ball or a new racket.
        • You can choose to equip any of these power ups before each match.
      • Paddles
        • By default each player plays with a table tennis paddle themed after their show.
        • You can unlock other paddles like a t-bone steak, a foam #1 hand, an ice cream bar, a fly swatter, a leaf, a mirror, a fish paddle, a tennis racquet, a frying pan, a chicken drumstick and a trowel.
        • As far as I can tell all paddles perform the same, but look aesthetically different.
      • Balls
        • Unlike the paddles, the balls have different features or functions.
        • The tennis ball is a larger ball which is thus easier to hit.
        • The rock reduces your opponent’s power.
        • The eyeball reduces the opponent’s spin.
        • The acorn reduces the opponent’s skill.
        • The cherry increases your power.
    • Strategy
      • Board positioning
        • If the table turns it offers you clues & means the ball is likely to be on the side where the corner is pointing toward you.
      • Swing strength
        • Swinging hard or moving the mouse quickly gives your opponent less time to respond.
        • Don’t forget when doing backhands to also swing up into the screen to put a bit of force on the swings. In some cases a side to side backhand won’t have enough power to get back over the net.
      • Keep Your Opponent Off Balance
        • It is generally better to try to move your opponent back and forth side to side rather than having them hit from a single static position.
        • You can also try to move your opponent to the front and back of the table to get themselves out of position for a follow up shot.
        • I typically like to aim for the opposing corner of the table with my shots, though in some cases if the ball is fairly center and does not have a lot of spin on it I will do a low smash straight up the middle of the table.
      • Some players will be better at forehand swings or backhand swings, whenever possible try to be more aggressive when you have an open shot lined up that feeds into your strength & try to use the other shot type to set up your main shot.
        • If a great swing is not set up then be content with a lighter swing to just return the ball and be more aggressive on subsequent swings.
        • I tended to be decent at forehand shots & often aced serves going hard and low cross court from right to left.
        • On backhands I was often content getting the ball back over the net hoping to set up another forehand smash.
  • Target Audience
    • This game is fun for all aged fans of cartoons and ping pong.
    • There are no adult themes in the game.
